What is an Invitation to Apply (ITA)
An Invitation to Apply (ITA) is a
formal offer extended by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)
to candidates who have expressed interest in immigrating to Canada through the
Express Entry system.
ITA is the final step before an
applicant can submit a complete application
for permanent residency (PR) in Canada. It is issued to individuals who
rank highly based on their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, which
evaluates factors such as age, education, work experience, language
proficiency, and other qualifications.
Once a candidate receives an ITA,
they have 60 days to submit all required documents and a full application for
Canadian permanent residency. Failing to do so within the given timeframe means
that the ITA expires, and the candidate will need to wait for another chance if
eligible.
Receiving an ITA does not
guarantee permanent residency, but it brings the applicant closer to completing
the immigration process.
Express Entry draws occur
regularly, and the cut-off CRS score varies for each draw. Candidates who meet
or exceed the cut-off score in a given round are selected for an ITA.
